A year of fabulous homes

A big thanks to everyone who's been Coming Over Sundays for the past year!  And an extra big thanks to all our stylish home makers who have shared their spaces and their stories with us.  We're looking forward to another year of seeking out and showing off gorgeous homes. As it's our anniversary, here's a mixed bag of goodies for you to enjoy - from our first post until now.

A family home filled with art and heart

A few things can be said about family homes.  First, they shouldn't be precious (because it's no fun yelling at the kids). Second, it is possible to maintain great style (it's really not necessary to get those foam mini-sofas). And third, there should be a great big gum tree in the backyard crying out to be climbed (in an ideal world we know). Full of special pieces and treasured art yet brimming with a casual family vibe, this house ticks all the boxes (including the tree-in-the-backyard box).

Welcome to Jackline, Aaron, Mali and Pascale's beautiful and creative home...

We love a good credenza and this one is extra special because it was
given to the family by an elderly neighbour who was moving house.
The neighbour wanted it to go to good home and we're sure they'd
approve. The stunning horse was painted by Jackline and Aaron's
friend Jason Rogers.



Kids art should spill beyond the front of the fridge.  A papier mache
cat made by daughter Mali perches on a Balinese stand
and the ferris wheel was made by Pascale with her dad.
Jackline loves displaying her daughters work because
"their art has such a freedom about it."
 A milky hued work given to the couple as a wedding gift
sits quietly above.



Kids paintings and collected pieces make for a colourful corner.



A screenprint on the windowsill echoes the colours in the horse opposite.
Jackline did this work as well as the screenprinted cushions on the sofa.
Such a creative family!






The master bedroom has just the right combination of colour
and calm.

 

Aaron's grandmother, Margo Lewers painted this treasured abstract
in 1976.

Not a Bieber poster in sight.
A stunning feature wall makes geography fun.
Jackline says Mali likes to look for her name (in West Africa if
you're wondering) and Pascale is is understandably put out
that you can't travel to Pascale. 

We're feeling a bit patriotic.

Aaron designed and installed the kitchen
using lovely woody toned formply for the benchtop
and splashback. Jackline says the aim was a
"beachy, natural feel." 
We love that they've achieved that feel throughout
the house but that there's lots of punchy colour
and art giving it a bit of edge.



The red chair was a roadside find which was resurrected with
a restringing and recovering.
The cane chair is possibly the most attractive "feeding chair"
we've ever seen. Aaron gave it to Jackline as a gift when she had Mali.
Jackline admits it wasn't entirely suitable for breastfeeding but it's 
certainly a lovely place to sit and soak up the sun.



A table bought as a prop for a film Jackline worked on is
paired with (replica) Hans Wegner chairs. Jackline is hoping
she gets the real deal one of these days.





A patch of lawn, a shady pocket, a barbeque and a sturdy old
gumtree. A perfect Aussie backyard.

  



An Arne Jacobsen desk lamp lights the work space and key pieces
of art brighten it. It would be hard not to be inspired here.



We can't believe there's room for improvement but this home is about to
undergo a major renovation. We are hoping for a return visit to see what will 
undoubtedly be a stunning transformation.
