Bought newly renovated with polished concrete floors, lots of white and a streamlined open plan, this apartment was sleek, sexy and simple. Though as much as she loved it, this homeowner admits it was a little cold and stark.
Thanks to a collection of gorgeous vintage wares and stunning mid century and modern classics, this apartment has been transformed into a fun and colourful home full of character.
Take a look....
...well there’s always a place for Ikea. This quilt cover adds great texture to the pale scheme.
Perfect shelving for knick knacks (and we mean knick knacks in a good way)
The pink and orange pillows on the bed used to be the kitchen curtains in this lucky lady’s mums kitchen! And the Kartell storage unit (used as a bedside table) was stashed, along with the curtains, in her parent’s garage. How we wish our parents had kept stuff from back then.
Next week A cheeky Rose Bay flat filled with whimsy and fun.
Some of the best things in life are free. There’s nothing like a hard rubbish day find. This vintage chair was in perfect nick.
You can barely see the Kartell ‘Bourgie’ lamp sitting alone atop the credenza by Joe Westbury of Red Rocket (www.redrocket.com.au). So elegant. And lets the nude ladies on the wall assert themselves.

An Eames ‘House Bird’ perches on a table by Finnish designer Alvar Aalto. The Luxy floor lamp is by Rotaliana (from Mondo Luce in Surry Hills).
The open shelving is filled with family heirlooms (this girl has done well), art by Malcolm McKernan and flea market finds. Love the little bursts of colour.
The Herman Miller Eames dining table in ‘peacock’ creates a striking divide between the kitchen and living areas. The homeowner says she was nervous waiting for it to arrive as she wasn’t entirely sure she’d made the right choice. But teamed with classic Eames white plastic chairs on Eiffel bases, it’s a gamble that clearly paid off.
